- The average litre of diesel cost 195.5p in the week to 21 September 2026, up 4.8p on the week before — the biggest weekly rise since the week to 3 August 2026.
- Northern Ireland had the UK's cheapest petrol this week at an average 167.4p, against 175.3p in the South East — 7.9p a litre, or £3.95 on a 50-litre tank.

The UK averages and weekly moves are the UK Government’s official weekly road fuel prices, published on Tuesdays at 09:30 for the Monday of that week, and the series back to 2018.
The regions and towns are our own averages of every forecourt reporting to the government’s statutory price reporting scheme, taken when this report was made (25 September at 03:47 BST).
