Headline figures
Measured 27 September 2026 at 18:08 (UK time). These are live counts, not estimates, and they cover the UK only — we also publish prices for 134 other countries, which aren’t included in the figures above. For freshness, coverage and any recorded gaps in collection, see the data status page — it’s public, and we’d rather you saw it.
What we are
A free fuel price map and journey cost tool. UK prices come from the government’s statutory price reporting scheme, which requires retailers to report price changes within 30 minutes. We collect that feed every 15 minutes and keep a permanent record of every observation — including the ones where the price didn’t move, which is what makes a genuine price history possible.
Beyond the UK, we publish prices for 134 other countries from each one’s own official source — a national statistics office, an energy regulator, or a government price decree, depending on the country.
How we handle accuracy
Three things worth knowing before you quote us, because they affect how a figure should be described:
- Every price carries the exact time it was reported — never “recently”. A week-old timestamp usually means the price genuinely hasn’t moved, not that we stopped checking.
- We never invent a price. Unknown is shown as unknown, stale as stale. Implausible readings are held back for review rather than published.
- Gaps in our collection are recorded and shown, not interpolated across. Where we’ve missed data, charts show a break and say why.
